About Azio Speziga
Azio Speziga, born in Bari in 1945, lived and worked in Casamassima, where he ran the studio and gallery “Il Covo dell'Artista”. His painting was materic: he built his surfaces from sand, cement, resins, tar and recycled materials, up to the painted nails of what he called “Chiodismo”. At the Bari International Art Biennial 2018/19 he received a special jury mention, and in 2019 he exhibited in Bari's old town, in the church of Santa Teresa dei Maschi. The Crucifixion in this collection, dated 1972, belongs to his early years.
